Eating in a hurry - tips
One of the biggest reasons (or excuses, depending on how you look at it) that people give for not taking care of their health, is that they don’t have the time. Do you also believe that?!
Again and again I meet people that tell me, they want to lose weight. Especially when they hear that I am a trainer, they get a bad conscience and pretend they are going to change things… And mostly I hear something like this: “Yeah, when I was in college I used to play soccer and could eat whatever I wanted. I used to workout all the time. But now, I have a family and I’m on the road a lot, so I don’t have the time to eat well and to train much. When I hear things like, “I just don’t have time to eat healthy”, it just doesn’t make sense to me. How can you not have time to eat healthy?
We live in the same universe right? I mean, your day has 24 hours in it, just like everyone else’s right? If not, let me know, and maybe I’ll cut you some slack. I know we’re all busy have a million and one things to do. But please. Make the time to PLAN good, healthy meals for yourself. Don’t fall into the “I don’t have time to eat healthy” mentality because, we all have the same amount of time, it’s what we choose to do with that time that matters. So, if you’re reading this, and thinking to yourself, “Well, Christine, that’s great and all. But that still doesn’t help me out”.
Here are 10 Ways To Eat Healthy In A Hurry. What I also need to mention urgently is: Especially if you are not really active with training anymore or can’t train for some reason, nutrition then plays even a major role. With the right nutrition you can maintain your bodyweight and health even better! I proved this to myself lately. I couldn’t work out and train for a few weeks due to an injury. With the proper nutrition I was able to keep my weight AND most of my musclemass over the weeks. Here is the first part:
1. Get your priorities in check.
In order to truly change your health and your eating habits, the first step is to get your priorities in check. I want to say if you REALLY cared about something, and if you REALLY wanted something in your life, you would do everything in your power to make it happen. Am I right, or am I right? We somehow find the time to do the most unproductive things in our lives, like making sure we don’t miss an episode of our favourite “soap-opera”, but somehow can’t find the time to eat healthy. Once your priorities are in place, meaning your health is #1, then everything else besides that, comes second. Without health, what do you have? You know for sure that you can’t buy health or the feeling of well-being.
2. Plan ahead of time.
Having a plan of action when it comes to healthy eating is a MUST. Before your week starts, you should already have the whole week’s meals planned ahead of time. Actually WRITE out what each day will look like and plan your grocery shopping on the weekend. So it is enough if you do grocery only once a week and you save time for other activities. Really important: Only buy what you need and what you put on the list, pass by very quickly the supermarket zone with sweets and other unhealthy things.
3. Cook multiple meals ahead of time.
When you make meals, make enough to last you the next day or two. This way, you don’t have to spend every morning and every evening in the kitchen conjuring up something to eat. For instance, if you cook baked chicken and sauted potatoes on Sunday night for dinner, make EXTRA and keep it the refrigerator to use for Monday’s lunch and Tuesday’s breakfast. This will really help you save on time so you don’t have to cook every single day of the week. I do this on a regular basis as well and it helps me to juggle things! And don’t’ forget, you can always freeze leftovers!
4. Eat regularly and don't skip meals. Schedule your meals in your phone or internet-outlook.
Did it ever happen to you that you were so busy that you even forgot to eat? This could be tricky, cause afterwords, when you “cool down” you may have cravings for food that is not right for you like chocolate or cookies. Please remember yourself to eat regularly, at least 5 times a day, even in a hurry. Three main dishes and two snacks. So if you are one of those people that easily forget about eating, just put a REMINDER on your mobile phone or your outlook that tells you when you should be eating. Try to eat every 3 hours. Do this at the start of each week so you don’t get caught up missing a meal or a snack.
5. Invest in some good to go containers.
Following up on #3 leftovers make for great snacks and breakfasts. Leftovers can be a good snack or breakfast. Yes, breakfast doesn’t necessarily always contain cereals or whole-grain bread. Try sometimes another breakfast and this way you'll be more flexible. T
